The core of the deck is Waste Not, a two-mana enchantment that gives you different benefits whenever your opponent discards a card. You can get a 2/2 black zombie, two black mana, or draw a card depending on the type of card they discard. To make them discard, we have a lot of cheap and powerful spells like Thoughtseize, Duress, Go Blank and Liliana of the Veil. These cards not only disrupt their game plan, but also fuel our engine.
The deck also has some powerful payoffs for having a lot of mana and cards. Sheoldred, the Apocalypse is a four-mana creature that makes your opponent lose life with every card draw and lets you gain life with every card draw of your own. The Meathook Massacre is a card from Innistrad: Midnight Hunt that can wipe the board and drain your opponent for each creature that dies. Bloodvial Purveyor is a four-mana 5/6 flyer that makes your opponent a blood token for each spell they cast, but also gives you +1/+0 for each blood token they control for your Bloodvial Purveyor when it attacks.
The deck also has some utility lands like Geier Reach Sanitarium, which can make both players draw and discard a card, triggering Waste Not. Castle Locthwain can provide card draw. Field of Ruin can deal with problematic lands. And Cabal Stronghold can ramp you up to cast your big spells.
The sideboard has some more removal options like Extinction Event, Cut Down, Noxious Grasp and Invoke Despair. We also have some graveyard hate with Ashiok, Dream Render and Weathered Runestone. And we have some more discard spells like Duress and Go Blank. Finally, we have Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet as another way to gain life and make zombies.
This deck is very fun to play and can be very frustrating for your opponents. It can also adapt to different matchups and situations thanks to the versatility of Waste Not.
