During the pro tour today, Wizards of the Coast announced that Magic The Gathering's standard format would be moving to a slower rotation cycle, with the hopes of revitalizing standard paper play, and the slower design cycle allowing for more diverse, robust standard formats. I spend most of this video unpacking why this change is, if not misguided, then at least fraught. If nothing else, it benefits paper players much more than arena players.
