Low and behold, the rare non-MTGA video. HAWKED just hit open beta yesterday and I really enjoyed my time with the game so far so I decided to try and get a timely video up on it. While the open beta has some shake, some jank to it — the optimization leaves something to be desired, the servers had some launch issues, etc — I've generally found it to be a really fun lightweight extraction shooter experience. Looking forward to the few rough edges getting polished off.

One of the card's that stood out to me the most in testing new mono red builds (both the decks I showed and others) has been Poetic Ingenuity, it consistently was a strong point of otherwise underwhelming builds. I was happy when I eventually worked out the kinks out of an ingenuity deck enough to show it off on the channel. Try out some weird mono red on the standard magic the gathering arena ladder, in mythic even.

Vodalian Hexcatcher's such a good magic card. I was hopeful it'd be playable with the release of Ixalan, and LCI didn't disappoint. While it has less lords and tempo plays in mythic standard on magic the gathering arena than it does in other formats, it can still pack a punch. Vodalian Mindsinger and Sentinel of the Lost City are particular standout.

Lister, some times you get frustrated with constantly playing into Farewell and Sunfall on Magic the Gathering Arena's mythic standard ladder & just want to hand-hate people playing that nonsense into oblivion. Of course those matchups didn't come up in recording, but this orzhov discard-tempo-ish deck was still able to hold its own.

What I think might be my last early access video (I'm sick, need time to get cards, etc) I'd wanted to show off this nonsense because it's very silly. This Grixis combo list could undoubtedly be optimized more, but as a proof of concept I think it's plenty interesting. Don't know if I'll keep working on it after it comes to magic the gathering arena, but Ob Nixilis doing a Griselbrand is definitely the most I've ever liked the card.

Quintorius is one of the planeswalkers I've been most excited for as of late because of how well he overlaps with Pia's build incentives, and boy did the deck not disappoint. Tier: 9🔸Archivist ANIHILATES Mythic | Standard Bo1 | Wilds of Eldraine | Magic The Gathering Arena
I hit mythic the other season with some weird decks, and this one based around Elvish Archivist has performed surprisingly well. In particular I like that it's more toolbox-y and tightly connected than the usual Selesnya Enchantments/calix style builds, with The Hunstman's Redemption allowing for some interesting plays. The highly synergistic package allows allows it to be pretty agressive, quickly turning Wurmlets or Archivists into large threats that need to be dealt with. Give it a spin on Magic the Gathering Arena's Standard Mythic ladder why don't ya.

I wasn't expecting to produce another MTG story reading, but when WotC dropped the Ixalan story they didn't release audio with it like they did for Eldraine, so I decided to inflict 20+ hours of work on myself over the weekend. This reading covers episode 1 through 6 of the Lost Caverns of Ixalan story. I would have liked to spend more time checking pronunciations & picking character voices & things — generally improving the performance and production quality, — but I knew it'd be a ton of work even if I didn't do that (I've been working for 2.5 days straight) so just kind of had to let it ride. If folks like this and number go brrrr maybe I can spend more time on the next one.

It sure is a deck for magic the gathering arena's ranked ladder, a card game format created by wizards of the coast.

I'd been working on a couple of related decks in wilds of eldraine standard on magic the gathering arena, a trading card game by wizards of the coast, when all of a sudden it hit me. What if small lady (Charming Scoundrel) help big lady (Chandra, Hope's beacon) go brrr. And jaya and koth are there too because it's also kind of mono red burn. Also there's a fancier chandra for emotional support or something. I've definitely lost the thread on this description.

I have a soft spot for storm decks, and Pia Nalaar dramatically improved an old favourite that really needed the help. Sorcerer class storm makes its return to the channel, powered up enough that it can actually play in Bo1 explorer mythic and not be totally embarrassing.

Hopeless Nightmare is a wonderfully efficient little bit of interaction I just knew I had to build a deck around. Rakdos Burn ended up being a great home for it, with Monastery Swiftspear and Kessig Flamebreather being great support pieces and payoffs in red. Great deck to try and hit mythic with on Magic: The Gathering Arena.

I was pleasantly surprised by this Rakdos Rats deck during early access! While it definitely needs to be tightened up a bit if you want to take it onto the Magic The Gathering Arena standard ladder, Lord Skitters & their butcher in particular were surprisingly solid, and Karumonix was remarkably crucial despite being a very weird card to optimize around.

Excited to revisit this list once it hits standard on Magic The Gathering Arena, maybe grind to mythic with it or a tweaked version of it.
